HomeNet Sri Lanka (www.homenetsrilanka.org)
HomeNet Sri Lanka is a network of organizations
working for sustainable development through socio
economic empowerment of the women home based workers
who are widely scattered in Sri Lanka. Siyath
Foundation is at the focal point of HomeNet Sri Lanka
for coordinating the network activities in order to
bring recognition for women home based workers. The
objectives of HomeNet Sri Lanka is to make visible
home based workers and their issues; advocate for
National policies for Home based workers within the
country; strengthening the economic stability and the
grass root levels of the women home based workers; and
developing and strengthening the network of home based
workers and different type of organizations working
for home based workers. In the past, HomeNet Sri Lanka
has had major events which have included: 16 days of
awareness programme on Violence against Women, a
research article discussing Tsunami Rehabilitation and
Regeneration of affected home based workers on the
southern coast of Sri Lanka, Beach Fair 2005,
International Women’s Day 2006, setting up a Social
Protection scheme, and the printing and dissemination
of the handbook on ILO177 Convention. Major activity
areas within HomeNet Sri Lanka include:
