Don't get distracted!

Many people find that it is very difficult for them to work from home. One of the biggest reasons for this is that they keep getting distracted. There is no doubt about it, there are a lot of distraction when you work at home so you are going to need to find ways to make sure that this doesn't happen. Fortunately there are things that you can do that should help in this regard.

This will make it feel more like a job and it will also help you to get started. Most of us have a tendency to avoid work so we go looking for excuses not to do it. Actually setting a work schedule makes this harder to do. If you have a family make sure that they know what your work schedule is and that they know that they are not to bother you while you are working.

It is also a good idea to set up an office in which you can do your work. This will help to reinforce that you are actually working and at the same time it will make it less likely that your family will bother you while you are working. It also keeps a lot of the distractions away from you so that you can concentrate on work. Working in the living room sounds fine until you realize that there is something good on television that can distract you. Having a separate place to work will help to prevent this.

One good way to avoid distractions and get your work done is to set a deadline on everything that you do. Even if the job that you are doing doesn't have to be done by a specific time it is a good idea to still set a deadline. This will make you accountable for getting your work done and that should help you to focus on making sure that you do. Of course this still requires that you hold yourself to the deadline that you set. You will accomplish little if you allow yourself to keep pushing back the deadline.

Another good idea to make sure that you don't get distracted is to make lists of all of the things that you want to accomplish each day. This will give you a goal of the things that you need to get done that you can work towards. It will also help to make you more accountable, you will know full well if you actually did the things that you intended to and if you didn't why. This accountability will go a long way to making sure that you focus on what you have to do and that you don't get distracted.
